Whimsical, Rolled Petals in a Dreamy Color Blend — A Garden Showstopper
Imagine a garden filled with flowers that look like they were sculpted by the sea — each petal delicately rolled into a fluted tube, catching the light like a tiny seashell. That's the magic of Cosmos 'Sea Shells' Blend. Unlike any other cosmos variety, these blooms turn heads with their uniquely tubular petals in a soft, romantic mix of pink, white, and crimson. Botanical Interests brings you this enchanting variety in an easy-to-grow, non-GMO blend that will transform your garden from summer through fall.
Cosmos 'Sea Shells' (Cosmos bipinnatus) is a tall, airy annual that produces an abundance of blooms on feathery, fern-like foliage. It's a low-maintenance, high-impact flower that thrives on neglect — perfect for cutting gardens, cottage borders, wildflower meadows, and pollinator patches.
Why You'll Love It
- Uniquely beautiful blooms — fluted, tubular petals in a blend of pink, white, and crimson set this variety apart from all other cosmos
- Exceptional cut flower — long stems and long vase life make it a florist favorite for fresh arrangements
- Blooms all season — flowers continuously from midsummer through the first frost
- Thrives on neglect — drought-tolerant and actually blooms better in lean, poor soil
- Non-GMO & open-pollinated — save seeds year after year
- Pollinator magnet — attracts butterflies, bees, and beneficial insects in abundance
Growing Tips
Direct sow outdoors after the last frost in a sunny spot — cosmos are fast and easy from seed. Sow shallowly and thin to 12–18 inches apart. Avoid rich or heavily fertilized soil, which encourages lush foliage at the expense of flowers. Water until established, then let nature take over — cosmos are remarkably drought-tolerant. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering, or leave some to self-sow for a naturalized planting that returns each year.
