Growing Tips
Direct sow outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked — poppy seeds need a period of cold stratification and do not transplant well. Scatter seeds on the soil surface and press lightly; they need light to germinate. Thin to 6–12 inches apart. Poppies prefer cool weather and will bloom in late spring to early summer before going dormant in summer heat.
